The Drowning Howl: Wednesday October 26, 2022

The Drowning Howl: Wednesday October 26, 2022 Hello, and welcome to another edition of the Drowning Howl, where it's not quite all bad news. The government has shown its hand with its latest budget proposals, and its apparent wish to force fiscal responsibility on the public has been met with bitter and widespread condemnation. Like it or not, however, spending cuts are on the way, and it may be time to brace for a shock. No more free rides; they're sending all the squatters to the workhouse. They say that someone has to turn those mills by hand if we want to keep our energy bills down, and that there are more than enough available able-bodied squatters. Another ecologically positive move, a return to horse-drawn public transportation, is hoped to help us stay within the confines of our shrinking fuel budget. Finally, publicly supported medical care will be limited to only the severest cases of cholera, smallpox, tuberculosis and typhus. The lactose intoleran...

Beware YouTube's Fraud Love

Beware YouTube's Fraud Love Here's my link to my September 1/22 post here. A lot of good it did. Taylor Swift Is Fraud Gee, it's kind of like talking to a brick wall. I just had to see two videos in my YouTube selection that two promote musical thieves: Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. They know they're guilty and I'm not concerned about any punishment for calling them out publicly. YouTube obviously cares more about making money than it does about protecting the artists who write hit songs for them. They're a filthy bunch. All I got for my music on their site was a big long nightmare with all their creepy fraud stars soaking up the limelight. I wish they could get someone human to work there. I wish someone had warned me what kind of assholes I was sharing my music and comedy with. They can't write a decent work because they have no heart and no imagination. They're just ordinary dummies who crave attention like children. They do...

An Ode to Mothers Bygone

An Ode to Mothers Bygone I noticed that the Queen was born the same year as my mother. My mother was very sweet, like many from her generation. Anyway, I wrote this poem last night. Hope it's appropriate. An Ode to Mothers Bygone © Copyright 2022 by David Skerkowski. In the range of mothers bygone Was the kind that marked an age Who withstood and bravely fought on Though a war would grimly rage Who confronted decades daunting As but one more trying day Who for work was seldom wanting Taking virtue as the pay With a smile always ready Wide enough to heart lay bare As a source of spirit steady Given fervently to care Not a shame to from the world hide Never smoked and never swore Said her prayers at the bedside Knees pressed hard upon the floor And the budding summer berries That we picked to spite the heat Won't without her here to share them Measure even half as sweet Still a piece I could recover Should I her example live In a ki...

Note to Robert Lacy: Taylor Swift Is Fraud

Image
Note to Robert Lacy: Taylor Swift Is Fraud I discuss this at length in this morning's video: Drive Time Reading . I am reposting the above video and song I did not get around to recreating until January 2019 - twelve years after I first shared it - because Robert Lacy thinks we should all celebrate Taylor Swift's birthday, which means he doesn't believe she's a total fraud. She is a total fraud who stole her hits from my YouTube account in 2007, and this was only one of them. We do not celebrate the birthdays of frauds in civilized countries, as far as I know. People, keep an eye out for fancy looking blog pages that want you to love frauds for all the songs I didn't have time to rewrite from the hours of music they stole. Don't be a fool, don't love a fraud for the songs her victim hadn't enough years left in his life to rewrite. You'd be wise to give the victim [myself] the benefit of the doubt here instead of doing what...

A Song for the Angles

Image
A Song for the Angles Here's a little tune I wrote way back in 2011 that seems to be relevant in the present. I offer it to our English friends overseas. Don't worry, I won't make a cent on it. I just thought you might get more out of it at this time. And I'm sure you'll survive this crisis. By the way, if you hear any advertising blowboy using the word 'hat' for this, take something heavy and slam it over his empty skull, will you? Music, if written properly, is timeless. Advertisers are afraid of me because I don't want you to pay business assholes for the simple pleasure of hearing a song. Don't fall for the campaign, just enjoy some good relevant rock. Yes, and don't let anyone get away with hacking this blog please. There should be NO commercials on it. How long were you able to enjoy that from my original post here? Five minutes? Then this page got hacked. Sorry, but Google sanctions these constant assaults on my...

About Name Calling

About Name Calling So someone yelled out my acronym at me as I walked by her on my way to work this evening. So you're still reading my blog, are you? How lucky for me! You know, I practically hear an echo from the emptiness of this page every time I write something in it. And when you think you're alone, as I can't help but do here, you feel a lot more free about how to express yourself. Hell, if this one person, or one out of her gang of friends simply left a comment to let me know she's out there reading, I'd be a lot more careful. But then my posts would also be a lot more boring, wouldn't they. I'm done another difficult day. The physical labour is a good therapy for me. I have a strong body and it needs exercise or I don't feel normal. When I started work today, I was truly in a suicidal state, but I feel better now. You still reading? I wouldn't know. I'm going to keep writing anyway. I wanted to talk about slurring peo...

Smartphones Are Stupid

Smartphones Are Stupid I hate this smartphone. I hate the wimpy sounding tune it plays instead of ringing. It sticks in my brain from hearing it so much, I'd like to slam the lid down on the fingers of the hands that are playing it. I can't figure out how to change it. Too cryptic. And it says 'swipe up' or 'swipe down' but nothing happens when you do. I have to swipe and swipe and swipe just to shut the stupid thing up every time my peace is invaded by a telemarketer, which averages about four times a day. And the Macbook is misery. Ten thousand applications I'll never use. And when I try to use one, it doesn't work. I buy a movie from Apple TV and it won't play on my display because of 'hdcp' issues. I waste hours and hours just trying to figure out a fix - to no avail. And companies pushing scareware on you, trying to get you to fork out hundreds of dollars for unnecessary software. As if all the useless crap it comes wit...
